The Nebraska Legislature recently debated a bill, LB 110, which would establish a tightly-regulated medical cannabis program for the state. The legislative sponsor, Sen. Anna Wishart, needed to win over two-thirds of her colleagues to move the bill forward in face of opposition from Governor Pete Ricketts and was unsuccessful. But the refusal of some lawmakers to support compassion for patients cannot stop the enactment of a medical cannabis law. Nebraskans for Sensible Marijuana Laws plans to put a medical marijuana constitutional amendment on the ballot in 2020.
